Micromax Smarty A25 Review – A complete Budget Friendly Android Phone
Micromax has introduced yet another
dual-SIM budget Android smartphone
– Micromax A25 Smarty. The new
Micromax smartphone is available for
purchase via online retailers such as
Saholic at Rs. 3,899.
In terms of specifications, the
Micromax A25 Smarty supports dual-
SIM (GSM+GSM) with dual standby.
The device runs on Android 2.3.6
Gingerbread operating system and is
powered by a 1GHz processor.
Other specifications of the A25 Smarty
include 2.8-inch touch display with
240 x 320 pixels resolution, 1.3MP
fixed focus camera, 256MB of RAM,
120MB built-in storage, 32GB

Judging from what we see in the pic above, that winner for fresh loading is a browser called Skyfire 2.0, with an honorable mention to Opera Mini for loading cached sites.
There’s always more to worry about in a browser than its loading times, such as Flash 10 support, share features, search display, and bookmarking. Let’s not forget built-in social networking, too.

Android apps sending personal data to third party advertisers
It looks as though we’ve been sharing our personal information with some Android third party advertisers! A recent study conducted by a team of scientists from Intel Labs, Penn State and Duke University shows that 50% of the 30 apps tested were relaying information to advertisers including IMEI numbers, SIM numbers and phone numbers to name a few.
We all know that everything we search for, look at, and download is tracked somewhere and stored for a time period. However, we still have the right to know which apps we’ve given permissions to versus which apps didn’t bother to ask. The alarming factoid with this study, is that the 50% of apps that reported the unique identifiers didn’t prompt for permission to send that data in the first place!
A Google spokesperson make this comment regarding the findings;
“On all computing devices, desktop or mobile, users necessarily entrust at least some of their information to the developer of the application. Android has taken steps to inform users of this trust relationship and to limit the amount of trust a user must grant to any given application developer. We also provide developers with best practices
about how to handle user data.
When installing an application from Android Market, users see a screen that explains clearly what information the application has permission to access, such as a user’s location or contacts. Users must explicitly approve this access in order to continue with the installation, and they may uninstall applications at any time. Any third party code included in an application is bound by these same permissions. We consistently advise users to only install apps they trust.”
Altek Leo 3.5G Android Phone with 1st Ever 14MP Camera
Altek announced a first ever phone with 14MP optical zoom enabled Android smartphone which will hit Europe soon. The Altek Leo is a 3.5G Android Phone with 14MP Camera. Altek are a Taiwanese corporation that develops digital camera products and technology. Altek Leo is the first smartphone to offer a 14MP camera with 3x optical zoom and HD video recording.
There are also a xenon flash and a LED video light on board, which makes the handset a must for everyone hoping to leave their digicam at home in favor of their cell phone. The handset comes with a 3.2-inch WVGA multi-touch display and runs Android 2.1 (Eclair). Connectivity is taken care for by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, as well as full range of network data transfer options (GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 3G with HSPA). Built-in accelerometer, digital compass a microSD card slot complete the list of the Altek Leo extras.

We achieved this without compromising Leo’s look and feel.”
The Altek Leo will hit European shelves in Q1 of 2011 but not information about its pricing.
